Anett Stuth: Elephant, 2004/2021, aus der Serie TIME LOOPS, 2021/2022, Fine Art Print
In her new works with the overarching title TIME LOOPS, Anett Stuth photographs, collages and decollages natural artifacts, plant and animal objects and remains from the recent and prehistoric past.
The photographer’s series reflects on nature’s sublimity and its destruction by humans as well as on the ways natural objects are staged. For her photographic collages, she combines historical and contemporary visual material with natural elements and relates these to our current civilization. In her decollages, Stuth removes superfluous information from the large-format photographs of animal and plant objects, so that they appear detached from origin and time – like the mute, frozen witnesses of their ephemeral diversity.
The constant interplay of collage and decollage gives rise to self-contained time loops that open up new opportunities for reflection.
